I have a couple of friends from South Africa and I find them really friendly and they are all smart.

I don't know if it's true of everyone from SA, but my friends are very straight talking - they just tell you how it is. They don't take cr*p from no-one and they are very funny. They can't stand whinging and think people should be thankful for what they've got.

I love my South-African friends.

That's impossible to answer. Everyone is different. There are good people, and there are bad people. But it has nothing to do with their race. Personality is not decided by the color of one's skin.

Yes, there are certainly South African people who are friendly, smart, and kind. That's a guarantee, even if I don't know any South Africans personally. Why? Because people are people are people. We're all individuals.

There are also South African people who may not have such positive personality traits. However, if I replace the phrase "South African" with any other race, these words would still apply. You will find people with positive and/or negative personalities anywhere in the world.

I know a few friendly, smart and kind S. Africans - I also know some S. African's that are complete tossers! Same as any nationality, you either like someone or you don't, it's nothing to do with the country they are from!

I have met a few different south africans at a couple of points in my life.

On the whole, for the ones I met, they were nice people.
But I did have the misfortune of being witness to what was a pretty bad convo about black people.

Not just in their country, just in general.

Those experiences have soured me somewhat toward south africans. Not that I wouldn't get on with someone from there, or that I look at them differently, but I now always have it in my mind that South Africans feel that way, and sadly for me, and every black man I know, I'm yet to meet one that doesn't.

Is this related to the social and recent political history of south Africa? I followed the career of Nelson Mandela as I found him intriguing and brilliant. South African tourists are always polite. Doubt anyone encountering a south African has stereotypes in the back of their minds, they're very nice and its a beautiful country with some of the best seasonal wildlife both in the coastal areas and inland.

My husband and I have been going to South African on holiday for the past 15 years.
We love the country, but most of all the people are very friendly and very polite. They also serve up very fresh and healthy food.

I work with one and he's lovely. A little sarcastic at times but on the whole a really nice guy. He dispelled a lot of pre-conceived opinions about South Africans.

I am madly in love with Charlize Theron !!!
So-- her being a South African just bought the whole region a pass with me !!
By the way--- If she were to apply for and receive an American citizenship--- would that make HER an African American ?? Just wondered !!

I met a S.African girl yesterday for the first time on a course i was on. Yes, she was very friendly - a teacher who wasnt working at the moment as she has two young kids. She seemed kind and was talking to someone who had lost her husband and seemed to emphasise with her. Smart? do you mean clever or well-presented? She seemed bright enough and prob is as she is a teacher. Casually dressed though.

I was in love with a S.African guy once long ago. He was yummy!

For some reason, I make friends instantly with South Africans! can't explain it, really, sometimes it happens even before actually speaking...
One thing is sure, I just love the accent!
