the broom is just a widely typical stereotype that was originally the main idea that made up a witch in folklore. those i dont consider real witches. real witches are men and women who are part of the religious group called Wiccans. they believe in both a woman (Mother Nature) and a man being their main gods, and place all faith in their natural surroundings. they may cast spells, but pretty light and dust do not fly out of their fingers like the ones on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. every thing that you named is just a widely popularized idea.
ps--for anyone who is Wiccan and i got this stuff wrong, this is purely upon what i have studied and i apologize if i got any of this wrong and offended you in doing so.

there are people who practise witchcraft, and i think they would identify themselves as witches. brooms and potions may still be part of their culture, but not every witch will have the "stereotyped" practises.
as for witches with magical power... we will never really know will we? unless we meet a witch who was willing not show us the magic. even then, us being cynical modern people, we'd probably laugh it off as illusions or magic tricks.

yes, there is still in my village in Bali. but there is no broom, and all the things you may think. in here they can turn into anything, but some of them are turn into some villagger pet, like pig, monkey, etc. sometimes they not turning perfectly, so the "monkey" has very long tail, big ear, red eyes etc. Believe me... there is still a witch

Butter fly's answer is the correct one.
There are real witches but they look like ordinary people, because they are.
Laurie Cabot of Salem, MA is the only known current stereotypical Halloween witch.

I visited Salem Massachusetts in September 2006 and yes, they claim real witches live there. I saw some freaky looking people but I don't know if they were witches or not.
