How do I get away. I have two children and no job. I have no money and do not control the finances. Now I see why. He has me trapped. We do have rental property that I could kick one of the tennants out of and take over the house, but I can not do that until the rent is due again and then I have to give them 30 days to vacate (NY State Law) I wish I had the money to find an apartment for a month. He is a BAS%$#^. This is going to just tear the kids up. I hate him. How can a person be so selfish. He must not love the children to be able to put them in this situation. Any ideas out there on my options? I would like to get the hell out now! Are the any womens help groups that give emergency assistance in situations like this?

Yes----not knowing anymore details than what you gave, it sounds as if you can seek some assistance from the county---Women In Crisis and other groups are available---should be a phone call away. Maybe you just need some time to relax and clear your mind. Depending on the hurt it might be abuse and that is illegal---maybe you need a restraining order and he has to go...you stay with the kids in the house. You need to start saving any loose change---every 4 quarters is a dollar---get my message?? Legal council is available and most states have fast acting separation and divorce laws---you say you have no job or money---how about family? Swallow your pride and start opening up for some help. No matter what, relationships are not supposed to hurt---and you need to start getting help. Open a phone book to the county numbers up front..shelters and help should be there. I really wish I could do a lot more...good luck

Have you considered counseling? I'd try that first if I were you. You don't really say what he did to you either. Definitely try to work things out first, so you can at least part knowing that you tried your best to salvage the relationship. Maybe it's just a misunderstanding between you two or something. Good luck!

Gee, people don't like the idea of trying to work things out, do they? Two thumbs down, for recommending mediation! I know it isn't exactly what you asked, but it is still very good advice. Especially given that you don't say what he did to make you want to leave in this question. Good grief!

There are women's help groups all over the country. You should call your local police station, they can give you contact info. Also check the link below.
