I just need someone to describe the middle charm because it will help me make the necklace. Thank you to everyone at yahoo answers who's helped with other things!

At first glance, it looks like a gray or black pearl, or perhaps some part of mother-of-pearl or abalone.

But looking in the other photos, I'd say it looks more like a highly polished smooth silver-colored metal shape, which is surrounded by a rope frame of silver-colored metal that's *textured* (which creates a nice contrast with the uber-smooth shiny metal and makes that look not-metal).

(Also... I'm assuming that most of the jewelry there is real metal, but polymer clayers also make quite convincing faux metals and faux pearl, etc., using things like mica-based or real-metal powders, metallic leaf, etc., and a high-gloss acrylic finish. Sometimes special techniques are used too.... if you're interested, check out at least this page at my site:

It is some type of silver bead, it sort of looks like a shell. I have seen similar beads like this at Michaels craft store.

i'm almost positive that the middle is an opal, with a silber band around it.
