Try Fashion Fair or Covergirl's Queen Collection. They make stuff specifically for people with darker skin. The Covergirl stuff is a lot cheaper since you can get it at CVS or Target or whatever. Fashion Fair I think is only available at like Macy's or something. I use trublend foundation from CG in soft sable and the oil control pressed powder in pecan from FF. It works great! I still want to try the Queen Collection tho. I hope you find what works best for you!

Choose a creamy or liquid foundation. Water based foundation is preferred.
A sheer foundation and a good concealer are important for creating the illusion of perfect skin. The foundation should not be lighter than skin color.
Dark skin shows up layers of make up much more than fair skin so mixing should be done carefully. Add a drop of water to foundation before applying it.Use a light powder after the foundation. This gives the skin a shine and is not too heavy. Avoid applying too much powder. Dust off the excess powder.
For blushing use colors like coral, rose and deep orange. Avoid brown and peachy shades. For very dark skin shades of bronze, plum and wine are suggested. Blend the blusher over the cheekbones as it brightens the skin color.
Dark purple and blue colors look good on dark skin colors. Dark metallic colors also look good. Use eyeliner and black mascara in the end.Avoid white or light color eye-shadow.Medium and dull shades lipsticks look better

Contact your local Mary Kay consultant...she will come to you and let you demo everything! I am a consultant and over 1/2 of my clientel are African American and they are all pleasantly surprised by the beautiful matches! The product is really affordable. Also, what skin care are you using? If you are a soap and water girl, that's very hard on your skin. It's like putting frosting on a cardboard cake. Make sure you are cleansing, toning, exfoliating, protecting and moisturizing your skin. It sounds like a lot, but it's so worth it. Once you see how beautiful your skin is, you'll be so happy you took care of it! To find a consultant in your area check out www.marykay.com. It's the #1 selling skin care and cosmetics in America for the last 13 years! Good luck!

I use cosmetique. They have a reasonable monthly fee and send a kit about every 4 weeks. I have used their products for 10 years and have yet to return one of the neat packages.
They send regular sized 'samples' along with order forms in case one has a particular product that they like to use replaced before it comes again. There are several name brands of products that are sold by cosmetique.
They color code their clients. They even adapt for seasonal changes...such as a slightly darker shade for summer when one ordinarily needs a darker shade of foundation and or cover stick.
They have powders, as well as, cremes. They feature cleansing products, too. I enjoy their gift box motif. Each month, I get a reasonably priced "pick me up". And, if I find products that I do not particularly like the shade of...I find friends or family to share with. It is great! I always have a gift of cologne or moisturizer handy.
Their website is listed below:
I am sure that they have products that will compliment your skin tones.

I agree with the other person, Iman is the way to go because the line is made specifically for women of color. Not just a white line with a few dark shades.

MAC makeup. Or Iman's line of makeup, or Fahion Fair. They all have a wide variety of colors and you can have one of them try it on you first before you buy it. Don't let them sell you on a color- make sure it's EXACTLY what you want, even if you have to go into different light & look into a mirror. It's sometimes good to try it on and then wear it for the rest of the day and see how it feels & looks for the rest of the day.

As far as am concern BobbiBrown and MAC are the best.. Go for earthy kind of shades. Alternatively you can also try sheer gloss lipsticks..it will make you look good.

I know MAC has a pretty large variety of shades available, you could also go to a Prescriptive counter and have one made for you. You can find them both at Macy's.
