yes! they can! there are "archaeological" satellites which can penetrate 80m below ground - and this is 20-30 years old Russian technology.
They use microwave mostly, infrared does not penetrate walls or other objects and x-ray radiation is to weak for clear images. But satellites use whole range of spectrum from radio waves to gamma-ray, depending on its purpose.

You can imagine what satellites can see now. Even more, the development of algorithms for image processing make the data more clear.

hree are “visible light” satellites, the most recent of which resemble the Hubble Space Telescope and were built by the same contractor at the same Lockheed Martin facility in Sunnyvale, Calif. They are known in the spy trade as “Keyhole-class” satellites. And they have a resolution of 5 to 6 inches, meaning they can distinguish an object that small, but no smaller, on the ground. Two other satellites are radar-imaging, built by Lockheed Martin in Watertown, Colo. Their resolution is about 3 feet.

While satellites cannot read license plates, they can tell if a car has one. While they cannot tell a mullah by the length of his beard, they can help analysts figure out how many people are chanting along with him at a street demonstration. And while they cannot hover over an area and provide real-time images, other “assets” such as unmanned aerial vehicles, also known as drones, can do that.
the answer is no

Some satellites use infra red line scanners, they could pick up heat generated inside the building.

yes. by using multiple radiations(like x-ray or infrared) , a satellite may know what are the insides of a building, including people and things by either their structure or temperature. But the images are too broad to identify the object.

Microwave radiation from satellites can penetrate some buildings. Obviously, optical radiation does not do well at this.

yes. Military satellites can pick up thermo imaging.

Technology is a wonderful thing but everything has it's limitations. No, satellites cannot see through buildings.

No. some spy satellites are equipped with IR sensors, but these cannot pick up a heat signature through a wall. Otherwise, the cameras are optical and cannot see through opaque objects, even tarpaulins.

yes they can with technology like in the movie Eraser (1996), so if you're a corrupt cop, trying to do something corrupt within your own home, or splitting up the ill-gotten gains and devies you gathered that day with other corrupt cops in an abandoned building you better watch out, oh, i forget our government rewards corrupt cops for covering up for corrupt fat cats and politicians they catch committing illegal acts while "on the beat", picking up under-aged hookers DWI DUI etc., bribery, conspiracy, collusion, Bush's hallmark, not busting nudist camps (exposing to children) around Bush when he was in Austin, Bush's association with Billion or Trillion dollar Illegal Drug and Drug Dealing Rapper empire the entertainment industry and fat cats depend on to drug under-age hookers in child brothels across the world and in U.S., it's a beautiful world we live in and Bush and Cronies in Collusion lowering the ethics even faster.
