I think this one is very close.... But I have to go with Denzel. My opion is that Denzel as Malcolm X is the best performance in history acting like a real life person, then 2nd is Jamie Fox as Ray.

I agree that its a very close one, but I have to go with Denzel. His performance was very powerful and very convincing. I'm not saying that Jamie's wasn't but... there was and is just something about Denzel that puts him on a much higher plane. The guy is a great actor

Denzel by far.....I think Jim Carrey as Andy Kaufman is the best portrayal of a real life person however.

Both excellent - but I'd go with Ali with Will Smith if you are looking for the best performance by a black male actor.

I liked Jamie Foxx. he had to act like him and sing like him. Two different aspects of it that he got down.

I thinkJamie Fox was better because he not only sang he had to play a blind man that had a drug habit.
