what is wrong with you, girl? is he jewish that he needs to be circumcised? most europeans are not circumsized. that is based on jewish tradition. so why would you even suggest it if it is not in their culture? by the way, are you circumcized? what if you were going with someone in a culture that expect their women circumcized, would you do it?

i do not get this obsession with circumcision?

That's really something the two of you have to decide together. The only reason to still circumsize is tradition (to be like dad) or religion (if you're Jewish). So if you're Jewish then you could explain to him why it's important to you. But if you're not- what is the main reason you want to. Someone else said so your child will be like his peers. I don't know where you live, but in California in the last 3 years it's actually been more common to NOT be circumsized. Just something to consider. When it comes down to it it's a decision that you two need to agree on. No use getting into a fight about something if you don't have a good reason to back up your side. Personally I don't know if I would or not, if it was my son (I have one daughter and in 2 weeks another) so I don't have an opinion either way on whether it's right or wrong, but I definately believe it should be a mutual decision.

for starters its gross not to have a baby circumcised and even grosser for an adult male not be circumcised either.

In baby boys circumcision is pretty much recommended and easier in the long run because with an uncircumcised baby boy you have to constantly keep pulling the foreskin back and to make sure its clean under the foreskin or the baby will and can develop an infection due to all that crap that collects under the foreskin... My sisters 1st son wasnt circumcised at birth and it became a pain the rump for her until at the age of 5 yrs when he finally got cut.. She wisened up on her 2nd son and got him circumcised at birth, Circumcision usually heal within a week or less..

As for a grown man not to ever be circumcised is just plain nasty as they dont always pull the skin back to wash and give their mates an infection from having a dirty penis, (throwing up)
its unhealthy and would never have sex with a man that wasnt cut... Just the thought is nasty....
GET THE BABY CUT AFTER HE WAS BORN. LOTS F GIRLS WILL LAUGH AT HIM IN THE FUTURE....

Why would you want to put a sweet little baby through all of that pain and trauma? There is no reason to circumcise an infant. Leave him whole and let him decide for himself when he is grown. Here is some great info for you:
http://www.mothering.com/articles/new_baby/circumcision/against-circumcision.html

And make sure you do NOT force back the foreskin to clean underneath. At birth it is attached to the head of the penis like fingernails to the finger. Ripping it back causes tearing and infection, that is the real reason why all of these poor little guys are getting infections, not because of the foreskin, because of improper care! Check it out:

There is no more reason to cut the genitals of a baby boy than there is to cut the genitals of a baby girl.

Take care!

You guys need to discuss it and the reasons why. As one person already pointed out unless you're Jewish there aren't any huge arguments for it. It's no longer a cleanliness issue as scientific research has proven that it isn't neccessary anymore. Here's a website I found that gives both sides www.circumcision.org It's hard on men nowadays too I know my husband said that it makes him feel less whole and that he resents the fact that he had no choice in the matter.

Why would you want to? It's basically cosmetic surgery. Why put an infant through that? Have you done any research into it? The AAP says that the "medical benefits" aren't significant enough to recommend routine infant circumcision.

i wouldn't, its an uneccesary cosmetic surgery. no worse than having a girl circumcised.
wait till he is old enough to make the decision on his own.

I know that for a man it's hygenic to get circumcised.

Someone who finds that procedure objectionable is probably not likely to be convinced.
