the damage is only in a few places, but quite extensive (lots of claw hole marks)

Please let me know what my options are.

I am already "soft pawing" the cats, i just want to know how to salvage my couch, which i paid way too much money for.

Hi there. You can have it professionally repaired. What I have done is gone to an auto parts store and use their upholstery repair kits for leather. I guess it depends on how extensive the damage is. Holes would be pretty easy to fix. There are also leather repair kits on line. Good luck and have a purrfect day.

cats and leather are a bad combination. i found out the hard way too. she totally destroyed a 400 dollar ottoman in only 1 day while I was at work. up til that day she seemed to ignore it, and was happy just to use her scratching post. I'm afraid i couldnt repair the damage (deep scratches and numerous pin-prick holes)
I'm going to have it reupholstered in a non-leather fabric. good thing i found out before i bought the leather love seat I've been thinking about.
