My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex on December 23 & 24. My period was due around the 26th, but it never came. On January 2nd-January 6th I had very light spotting. I had tested a few times at the end of December, but I know it was too early to get an accurate result. 3 days ago I tested with Answer Quick & Simple, and got a faint negative. I'm going to get a blood test on Saturday, but does anyone know what a faint negative could mean?

The control line was faint.

Faint negative? There should be two parts to the test - one control line, which always shows up, and a second line which only shows up if you're pregnant.

A "faint negative" probably means that the test did not work properly. There should always be one strong line.

Are you meaning the control line was faint? I do not know why it would be faint. But if your meaning the positive line was faint then maybe you should have used first morning urine.

If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)

If it's faint that means that it was negative. Just because the lines are faint doesn't mean that it could possibly be postitive. A pregnancy test reads the hormone level that you only have if you're pregnant. If you're uneasy take a test in the morning with the first pee, that's when the hormone would be the strongest if it's present. It was probably too early to tell btw tho; generally you need a good 3-4 weeks for an accurate test. The light spotting could mean that you were pregnant but had a miscarriage as it is likely to miscarry in the first 6 weeks of being pregnant and esp the first few days esp under stress. A lil lengthy but I'm putting in all my stress days of testing and everything I learned lol.

Firstly did you take the test first thing in the morning with your first urine??? Your hcg levels are the highest in the morning and the chances of getting a more accurate reading are much better then. Take a blood test on Saturday at least put your mind at ease if you are Congrats - if not make an appointment with the Dr and find out what the problem could be for a late period.

a faint negative?? not a faint postive. if thats the cae you need to tkae another test. there should be one control line that always shows up, and the there will be 2 lines if you are pregnant.
if the control line is faint then the test was bunk.
----- however--- if you meant a faint positive line, you are pregnant for sure. congratulations!

What do you propose faint adverse? The administration line didnt turn darkish? Get a diverse try, only one that has one for adverse and 2 for pregnant. Its posible the try you took became defective, you need to get a solid adverse once you're actually not pregnant to coach the try is smart.

You probally just need to take another test. I wouldn't worry about a faint negative. If it was a faint positive then you should worry.

If you mean a faint 2nd line, chances are you're pg. Hormone level is just low at this point.

It probably means there wasn't enough urine or it was too soon to test.
