Does global warming pose a serious threat or is it part of Earth's natural cycle? I can keep an open mind. I will choose a best answer. Thanks!

No. It is not a serious threat, global warming actually is a natural process. Did you know that the earth is actually cooler today then it was 1000's years ago? Yes it is true the earth is actually cooler. But it still is a threat to humans just like any other natural and man made disaster. If the ice caps melt they will raise the sea water to 20ft more than what it is right now. This will cause a lot of problems around the world. But Global warming is like any other natural disaster, Hurricane and Earthquake. We are concerned because we feel and think we are responsible for causing it, but this is not true, yes we drive cars that pollute the air but at the same time before there were a lot more volcano activity which released pollution in the air. I mean way more activity then today. So this is a natural cycle, we do not need to be worried.

By the way I'm doing my HW right now this is all the time I have right now. If I have more time I will write more.

I believe global warming does pose a threat to our current lifestyle and the current creatures inhabiting it at this time. I also believe that the earth does go through natural climate changes. This current change is not an unnatural thing but the contributions that industrial polution has added to the environment has simply made the change more extreme. We may have gone through a little global warming like a half degree rise overall if we did not have so much polution, but since we do, it could cause a 1 to 2 degree global climate change and that could seriously affect the way the ocean currents flow as well as how the winds blow. If warmer air and warmer currents run through the polar caps melting them, then we will have floods and more rain and that could effect the farming regions. This could either flood the food producing regions or create drought by dropping rain before it reaches these regions causing world wide famine. The half degree change would not be as extreme and we might see a bit more rain in wet areas and longer dry periods in naturally arid areas, but not so extreme as to disrupt life on the planet. Check out info on the little ice age during the middle ages. This change was naturally occurring but it had a pretty good impact on life then without the added extremes that industrial polution has today. Take this little ice age change and multiply the effect a hundred times, that is what we will have to deal with if we continue on the course of industrial pollution. We also have fewer trees and green places to help offset the increasing polution and the toxins we put in the atmosphere today. These are so much more destructive and poisonous to the planet than anything we have ever produced in the history of humankind so far. What we are doing with these polutants is depleting the ozone layer that protects us from the harmful types of solar radiation and that creates a greater threat than just plain temperature change.

I personally think global warming is a bunch of garbage. Yeah, the average temperature in Albany NY may have gone up a half degree in the last 50 years, but the "global warming people" won't tell you how the average temperature in Detroit MI has dropped a half degree in the last 50 years. As we put more CO2 into the atmosphere, MOTHER NATURE makes her trees bloom earlier in the year, so they can take in more CO2 and release O2. This is a documented fact that trees are blooming on average 10-20 days earlier now than they did just 75 years ago.

The biggest problem with global warming isn't global warming. It's the people pushing it or opposing it. You will only get warming temperature graphs from people pushing it. You will only get cooling graphs from people opposing it. After reading up on it as much as I did, I firmly believe it's a NATURAL cycle of the Earth.

Question: 65 million years ago, the average Earth temperature was around 30 degrees hotter than it is now. Mother Nature survived, the dinosaurs didn't. Who is the more powerful one? Not the dinosaurs.

Global warming nowadays is a series problem of the world especially not concerning our environment is the main cause of the problem. For instance, the Quioto agreement about pollution is hanged by USA because of her benefits rather loosing something. This is aproblem to take action to some extent. Any way Global warming effects bad weather condition such as acid rain in the developed nation, the water bodies level raising due to increasing heat and mailt the polar ices, famine & drought is common in the developing nations and so on.

Darling, to put the blame of earht's natural cycle is very unfair. What brought on the warming effects of our planet? The consumption and the burning of fuel.

The glaciers shrinking and water levels increases brings about floods, drought & famine. You have seen this in the past years. This year and the end of last year, you have seen heavy rains, less snow, etc around the world.

If the countries dont curb or lessen fuel consumption that dont pollute the air we breathe, we bear the consequences. Soon the oxygen we breathe will be taxed and have to be paid for.

Read on thec weather changes in and around your country. Compare the past records of the El Nino effect and see how far the temperatures have soared. With these temperature rising, how agriculture is to survive with water shortages? Rationing?

Taping into the seas for drinking water, will this deplete as the planet suck the sea dry? Then all the fishes? Should the scientist around thecworld start generic cloning of them like fruits & vegetables? And animals?

It is in front of our doors, and it is serious. It started with industrial revolution in Britain in 18th and 19th century. In the last 20 years, global warming was one of my biggest thoughts.

well according to the profesionals it does. Personaly I dont see it as such a huge threat where we will all be dead in 30 years.

However, I definently think it is a good thing to seek out alternative forms of energy such as solar power, hydrogen, wind, etc...
