My favorite lizard id the uromastyx, or the bearded dragon. They are both very personable and cute. Both have an omnivorous diet of veggies and crikets. They are very similar in their care its just preference. If you don;t know anything about lizards, a leapord gecko is an excellent first lizard. The only down side of a leapord gecko is that they are nocturnal meaning most active at night. As with ANY pet you consider getting (from goldfish to penguins(Alaska get it? LOL) you need to research proper care, feeding, and living conditions for the animal you are considering before makng a purchase.

a gecko is a lizard! there are lots of different types of gecko. the best for a beginner is a 'leopard gecko' a pretty lizard, usually yellow with black spots, but you can get different colours nowadays.
they grow to approx.5-6 inches long so do not need a really big enclosure like some larger lizards.(a 30-36 inch vivarium will do).because they are nocturnal they do not need a u.v.b light tube which keeps down the initial costs of a set-up for them. however they still need a basking light during the day and a heat mat for night time temoperatures.please get a good book before buying one!

the best starter lizard is a leopard geko or a bearded dragon. i have a bearded dragon. they are so cool you can bath them and sometimes they do weird stuff. its a really fun lizard 2 have. But if u live in alaska that might be a problem because lizards need lots of heat.

Some geckos are very fast and dont like being handled. In my opinion the easiest lizard to keep is a breaded dragon, they are really friendly and love being handled, very easy to feed and have cracking personalities.

Defiantly a bearded dragon! Alot of people like geckos, but from experience, they are bad! I've seen some nasty bites from geckos. Bearded Dragons are GREAT pets for first-time lizard owners. They are VERY docile and LOVE to be handled! I just got one for Christmas because I actually had to give away my gecko because it bit me and drew blood! I strongly recommend a bearded dragon for you!
