you must be logged in as an ADMINISTRATOR (administrator account) .Then in your user account (START>CONTROL PANEL>USER ACCOUNT) supply your password.

then right click the folder you want to be private and check MAKE THIS FOLDER PRIVATE.

BUT IN SOME INSTANCE if other users logged on as ADMINISTRATOR, they can still open files of other users

In XP Pro, you can disable simple file sharing in the view tab of folder options on your control panel, right click the folder, go to the security tab, and delete the everyone group, provided you are an administrator and your brother is not. With XP Home, the same thing can be done using XCALCS at the command line, provided you really know what you are doing and aren't afraid of breaking everything. If you do not have Pro, Make this Folder Private would work, and third-party tools sometimes work.

you would have to start restricting permissions. Anyone with "Administrator" access can go into someone else's "my documents folder". The answer is to remove his administrator permissions, then he can't open your folder, but that will create a lot of other problems.
