You have an internal clock called a circadian "rhythm" that is set by your habits of going to bed and getting up which would waken you on your days off. But you also have the psychological aspect of subconsciously not wanting to get up on work days which interferes with your internal clock but on your days off you want to get up.

Because you get used to waking up early, and when you don't have to go to work, you wake up early anyway.

Obviously, you'd rather sleep than go to work--- so you feel tired and depressed that you have to get up and go there.
Days off, you have stuff you want to do--- more fun than sleeping, so you get up energized and happy to be alive and 'free'!
