I've seen ANACS coins designated "cleaned" that look great. What will a cleaned coin exhibit? Will it show haze, hairlines, brush lines?

Numismatically, how do cleaned surfaces look different from original surfaces?

It sounds like you already have the right idea - brushlines, haze etc. The key here is that some "purists" feel that if a coin has been cleaned, it has been tainted in some way and therefore is worth less than a coin that hasn't been cleaned. Also some cleaners can truly damage the coin if you don't know what you're doing.

My personal opinion is that if I like the coin, I'll buy it. However, I need to price reduction for the reduced resale value.

1) the value will drop
2) the chemicals can cause harm to the coin
__a) the coin can tone
3) the chemicals may make coins look nice for now, but just wait.

My advice to you is DO NOT CLEAN YOUR COINS

Koval's who are authors of many books on antiques warn against cleaning anything old-it devalues it big time! Also Antique Roadshow,I think it is called, goes all over the country and world and they warn the same thing!
