You have to be able to identify who's worthy and who isn't worthy of your sales pitch, in the first place. After you've found one that is, you have to be able to further read his or her type in order to identify which recipe of persuasion to serve them; therefore it is best to study the inner workings of human nature, influence, psychology, and persuasion and then proceed to gain experience through trial and error while carefully taking notes on what works and what doesn't.
