I have a beautiful Banzai that is struggling because the soil is infertile...I purchased it in China (and still live in China) and can't buy fertalizer or new soil accept in large quantities in this part of the country. I've worked really hard trying to help it thrive, but it seems to be slipping away...this would be very tragic for me, please help!

Bonsai requires regular feeding at the right time of year with the correct fertilizer that must be continually replenished because it washes out each time the plant is watered.
The most common bonsai fertilizer is in a slow release pellet-form (such as 'Osmocote'). You can buy it on line. If you cannot get it in China, please ask the forum at the bonsai site. com. Good luck.

compost your vegetable food scraps, eggshells, coffee and tea grounds. you can also use fish carcasses if they're available. you need to let things compost for at least a month before using.
