I live in the SF Bay Area, so I'm biased toward Walsh, but I'd have to give the nod to Parcells. Sure, Walsh won 3 Super Bowls to Parcells' 2, but Parcells turned around the Giants and Patriots, don't remember how he did with the Jets, and he did OK with the Cowboys.
Plus, Parcells coached a lot more years than Walsh.
But if I were a player I think I'd rather play for Walsh.

Here is a little known fact about Bill Parcells as a Head Coach:

When he won his two SBs with the Giants, BILL BELICHICK was his Assistant! Since they parted company, he has been a mediocre coach at best. Dallas exposed that for all to see!

Parcells AND Belichick in the SB: 2 - 0.

Parcells in SB WITHOUT Belichick: 0 - 1.

Belichick in SB WITHOUT Parcells: 3 - 0.

Bill Walsh not only created the West Coast Offense which has dominated football for a quarter century, not only won THREE SBs personally but founded a dynasty so powerful that even his replacement, a dufus like Seifert, could continue winning SBs! (I think most thinking fans would actually credit Walsh with all FIVE 49ers SBs....)

At the end of the day, both Walsh AND Belichick are HOF LOCKS! The Tuna is NOT!

there is no comparing bill walsh to the tuna. walsh left as a winner, the tuna left dallas some what short of that , 1 win over 500 a lot of head coaches have been fired with better records than that

Not even remotely close, Bill Walsh revolutionized offensive football!

Bill Parcells only revolutionized yelling at and insulting football players

Bill Walsh.

Ever heard of the "West Coast Offense." Bill Walsh created it and it changed the way teams played defense forever in the NFL. I don;t believe that Parcells created any special defenses. The 3-4 was being used by most of the AFC before Parcells.

And who has more Super Bowls? Walsh with 3. Parcells got 2 in his younger days with a certain coordinator named Belicheck. Also Walsh has experience running the front office of the 49ers for most of the 90's.

And look at the Walsh family tree of head coaches:

Bill Walsh:
George Siefert-1 Super Bowl win
Mike Holmgren-1 Super Bowl win
Ray Rhodes
Jeff Fisher-appeared in 1 Super Bowl
Mike Shanahan-2 Super Bowl wins
Andy Reid-appeared in 1 Super Bowl
Jon Gruden-1 Super Bowl win
Steve Mariucci

Bill Parcells:
Bill Belicheck-3 Super Bowl wins
Charlie Weis
Romeo Crennel
Eric Mangini
Tom Coughlin

I would say that the Bill Walsh coaching tree has generated alot more success than the Parcells' tree.

Parcells. Do you realize where the Giants, Patriots, Jets and Cowboys were before he got there. He is the Midas of football. Ok...maybe not that far.

ditto...1st guy. Parcells is a no BS coach! I do admire the creator of the west coast offense, but Parcells, with his "in your face" method and football genius is the man. Hoping he unretires in 2008.
