When you buy an ex-cop car, they're suppose to remove all the decals and lights. You can still scare people they think you're undercover though. Yes you'd get in trouble, it's impersonating an officer.

It is illegal. There was a big problem about this a few years ago where I live. Someone had gotten a blue light, and installed it on their car. They used it to pull over lone women on isolated roads. Once the women pulled over, they'd either rob them or rape them. It is illegal to have the blue light. The spot light is okay, and you can even put a yellow light on the vehicle, but blue is out of the question.

Yes. I have a friend who got stopped by the police for driving a police car. If they don't reconize the car the local police will check the Licence Plate Number. And if it comes back that it's not registered to the police you can be arrested for impersonating a cop.

It is illegal. You may not think it was so "neat" to scare people when you get charged with impersonating a police officer.

if you drive it and activate the blue lights it is illeagle in some states, in nj they would think your a firefighter, cops use red lights there, so....its perfectly legal to own one, , and park it in your yard to deterr criminals, but highly illeagle to activate the blue lights thats impersonation an officer. also you cant re sticker it with the names, POLICE, SHERRIFF, STATE TROOPER, STATE POLICE, well you get the picture..

as long as all the emergency lights, radios, decals and insignias are bumped off, this is wonderful. with out those, this is not something greater advantageous than a inventory sedan with a large engine (and in many situations, a beefier battery and alternator besides as a twin exhaust) and is totally highway legal.

Don't they usually take off the lights before giving you the car? At least, that's what they do in Oregon.
