I believe the ones I have read about being used by police officers to taze innocent people were only 50,000 volts. So 150,000 should do the trick.

To say 150,000 volts in a stun gun that would be in DC voltage and not 120 volts AC. Stun guns give off low amounts amps and a very high volts, unlike AC voltage give off a much higher amount of amps but low amount of volts. The question should be explained by a sale rep. not all stun gun are made the same, there one that shoot probes at an at taker and the one you make contact with the skin. hard to say--- depends on the will of the person.

I would go for a higher voltage. If a guy is big and/or on drugs or is drunk, your mom might not be able to keep the gun in constant contact with the guy's body long enough to take him down. Then he would be angry and might really hurt her worse.

If you do not want to take any chances with her safety, go with a more powerful model that would deliver more voltage quicker. The higher power ones do not really cost much more.

If you put a globe in a big guys mouth at that voltage it will glo but keep in mind your mum has to use the stun gun she must be quick she must have a bit of distance and she should have some training the potential thief could turn it upon your mum and could do her very much harm.

that is a lot considering that a lght bulb only uses about 120 V, however also check to see how much current it can deliver. By the way im not sure this is the way to go though :/

This is OK as it is probebly DC rather than AC, when they electrocute someone they use AC current.

By the way AC current was developed by Edison I think.
