Been to Asutralia, know a couple of people that live there...and I will say this. That artical sounds like something that would come out of some of the more fanaitical US publications from groups like the KKK and other similar groups.

Too often people confuse patriotism with prejudice, or worse use the one to justify the other.

Next time someone starts on some sort of a rant like that ...point out to them that Australia started out as a Brittish Penal colony. Remind them that the Aboriginal people were probaly no happier about the First Settlers there than the current Australians are about other immigrants.

Sorry, I did not read EVERYTHING in the additional details...
I don't think it is racist, as the person is simply saying what Americans have been saying all along... when a person immigrates to a country, it is the immigrant who must adapt, and not the previous residents.

Patriotic? I wouldn't say it's patriotic, either. I think it's simply the opinion of a person who is tired of changing perfectly normal customs and laws in order to keep the "newcomers" happy.

I have to say, that, if I understand the article (minus the additional details) correctly, my opinion is the same.

I as most Americans love Australia. You have always been one of our closest allies. Australia has only one fault. You are the most bigoted raciest state in the world. This use to be America. Don't be trapped by such a heinous society. Hisszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

i am sorry about it being deleted originally.
too bad you did not write it.

it is not racist.
it brings up several good points. people are more concerned about how something makes them "feel" rather than if it is the right thing to do,say, etc.
sometimes the 'right thing' doesn't sound nice and hurts feelings but it is still the right thing; but in our society today we have gotten to a place where we can't make anyone feel bad.

It is patriotic and there is nothing wrong with loving your own country with its own customs. It's just like coming to America or any other country.Ilive in America. If you come to my country you must learn to adapt to my country and I must adapt to other countries if I choose to live elsewhere.I do not ask that a person stops beinghim/herself or stop speaking your own language. That is asking someone to stop being human. But if one chooses to live in another country, they must learn to speak their language, learn their laws, and it would help to learn their customs.

I see it as patriotic, but everyone is entitled to their opinions.
