Chess is undoubtedly the most beautiful game in the World. The strategy needed is unbelievable, in a game that "seems" so straight forward. You have to be able to "see" 5-7 moves ahead, and plan accordingly. The smallest reference book that I have ever found was a beginners book for Chess, but it was still over 50 pages long. I would suggest that you do a search for the rules of Chess, and then learn by playing (even on-line at the "Zone"). Playing is really the only way to really "learn", and everybody plays differently. It is well worth the the effort though.

I had an inner struggle. To spend 15 minutes of my life explaining the most complex yet greatest game in the world, (chess) or to defer. The latter won out. I will say however, that chess and checkers are often included together in the same sentence despite the fact that there is little if any similarity. Checkers is a complete joke in comparison with chess. Chess is a paradox, and is immensely satisfiying if played with apt skill.
I will also say that I am sorry for taking the easy way out.
Checkers: you can easily learn on your own by watching a few games.
Chess :
I can refer you to an encyclopedia article at least. I hope it helps

on checkers, there are 2 players one player is trying to keep all of his checkers and all of the opponents checkers as well. Whoever runs out of checkers first loses the game. Once you get to the other side where the opponent is, say king me, once you say that the opponent will stack two checkers on each other and it will be king. The king can go backward or forwards it doesnt matter. If you only have one checker all you can go is forward until you get kinged. I dont know how to play chess, but i heard it is a hard game to play.

Buy a very inexpensive checkers / chess board game at "Toys R Us" or someplace like it. You can find them for under $10.00 The directions will tell you all of the rules. Tips for playing chess would require at least - sixty pages of info. As for checkers - practice makes perfect. Good Luck!!!

well the rules are kinda of long and its better to watch and learn
in checkers each player start with his pieces on his sides and moves one at a time DIAGONALY, when pieces meet eventually of both players. the one whos turn it is can jump the other checker and eat it(remove the oponents piece from the board) if you succesfully get one checker piece to the other side of the board than you get a queen ( 1 cheker stacked on top of the other) now this one can move back an forwad diagonaly.
Chess is a lot more complicated so i would suggest you watch and learn from yahoo chess

Playstation! you do no longer ought to pay to be on line like on XBOX. Wii is particularly solid, yet there are not many large video games on there. confident, I actually have a PS3, my brother has an XBOX 360 and that i actually have a Wii :). became somewhat difficult to elect, hence I even have all 3 :D
