What is "pure" science?

Just see if it leads to a BS degree. If it's a BS instead of a BA, I'm sure it'll fit your definition of what a "pure" science major is.

Please define what you mean by "pure" science.

Nutrition or food science is interdisciplinary – you need to have an understanding of biology, chemistry AND physics. Depending on where you want to go with nutrition or food science, having a background in cultural anthropology or sociology might be helpful.
