I've never had this happen- but suddenly, I have approx 2-3 HORSE flies in my house each evening. I have no clue where they are coming from, have NEVER had this issue- don't really know what to do. I DO know they bite...and I have children- so that's not cool.

I've been in this house for 1.5 years- and as I said, never have had this problem.

I'm assuming you live someplace warm(lucky!). I would check all the screens on your windows/doors for holes, and patch them if you find any. They should sell patching kits at the hardware store. Often in summer here I find they fly in when someone comes in or out of the doors. A good fly swatter comes in handy, or you could try fly traps/glue traps that they sell at the grocery/hardware store.

I wonder if Home Depot sells some kind of trap like they do for wasps. We don't have horse flies where I live, but we have massive wasp nest problems during the summer. We get several of the traps and hang them around the yard. Seems to do the trick. The critter flies in, can't get out and dies.

I bought some of those yellow sticky fly papers and put them close to a window that did not get direct sunlight and shut off all the lights in the house. Flies tend to attract to light for some reason. Surprisingly, the sticky paper does catch them.

You can get rid of flies by using pest control.
