Citrine has a distinctive orange colour where topaz comes in a variety of colours but a yellow topaz will have a golden colour. The "flash" in the stone will confirm the colour for you.
Still, an accredited appraiser is the best way to completely confirm the type and authenticity of the stones.
On the other hand, you could just appreciate the beauty of your aunt's gift, regardless of what it is and just enjoy it for what it is.

Jewler is the only way to find out. Could also be a peridot
