I REALLY want to start dancing. If im 18, is it too late to start? maybe not a career... but I want to be able to dance really good. Is that possible? Um... like hip-hop and lyrical/jazz??? yeah those. But i dont wana be a cheap dancer. Like a really good one. Will i be able to do that if I start at 18? Im 16 now but cant start financially. But I went to tap for like 4 months and I went to my dance team for like 5 months. I really wanna do this. I love dancing. I can almost do the splits. =/.

No, it isn't too late at all! My friend started Latin dance in 18 in her uni and is 21 now and i can tell you, you really can't take your eyes off when she dances. So, age doesn't matter when you learn things, the most important point is that you have the heart to learn, you really want to learn it and excel in it. Do it, since it's your dream to dance well and you really love dancing. If you don't learn it or try it out, you'll regret it. Really. Don't care about what others say about you. Good luck!

Whether you can dance well or not depends on more factors than your age. If you have good flexibility, strength and are in good shape physically as well as have a certain body-type, then you will be more successful in learning to dance "well" later in life.

It's never too late to learn to dance for fun or for your own self-expression, however. But if someone tells you that for "x" amount of money, you can become a professional.....run the other direction!

Nope. Not too late at all. If you want to dance, you can. It just takes application and practise. And if you can't afford lessons right now, there are library books that can guide you through some of the workouts and some of the basic steps. But check out your community center. They often have very inexpensive or even free classes for kids.

It's never too late to start dancing! Ever heard of Martha Graham? She didn't start dance untill she was in college, and became one of the most famous dancers. You seem to be really driven to suceed in dance, and not just to suceed but you really enjoy dancing, so I think you will be good. Good luck!
