I just got an ipod nano and right now i have a message that says "No battery power remains. Please connect iPod to power." I have the ipod plugged into my computer right now but the message will not go away. Also, isnt the battery thing in the top right hand corner supposed to be moving or isnt the ipod supposed to indicate that it is gradually charging or is this normal?

(1) do you have (the latest version of) iTunes? Without it, the computer cannot check your iPod battery condition,
(2) make sure iPod is *directly* connnected to a USB port on your computer (not on a keyboard, monitor or other extension.)
(3) if you are using a laptop, make sure the laptop is plugged in to an outlet.

make sure the usb port is powered. Do not use a hub or a port from the keyboard. Also when connected to the computer via usb make sure the computer is on during the duration of the charge. It would be much more simpler if you could purchase a usb a/c adapter. I bought one for myself and my neice for less than $5 each on ebay. It cost much more in department or electronic stores. You just charge it by plugging it into a wall socket. You will see a large battery graphic when charging. It will flash a lightning bolt in the center. When it is plugged directly to the computer, you will see a tiny battery indicator in the top right with the same graphics as before.

Make sure the iPod is plugged into a good power source. Let it charge for a while like about 10 minutes. Then if it still says that message, then hold down the MENU button and the center select button until it resets then it should start up again.

How long have you had it? I have heard that after a number of charges the IPod's battery completely dies and can't be recharged but I've always heard that the IPod should last for at least 2 years before something like that happens.

It's probably giving you this sign because you did some sort of update or changed some sort of setting. is it a picture of an actual plug on the screen? if so, you need to keep it plugged in for a couple of minutes for it to make the necessary changes. during this time the "battery" won't appear on the screen.
