If your cellphone provider has ever made any changes to your contract, this automatically gives you an exit clause.

Your best bet is to read your contract. Cellphone agreements change from year to year and the only one that is valid is the one you signed, unless you agreed to additional clause by adding another phone.

More than likely, they will hit you with an early termination fee.

If all you want is the "coolness" factor, and the services have been acceptable, it would be rather silly to be hit with the usually high termination fees. By the time the expiration of your existing contract rolls around, there will be a whole new group of "cool" phones that may be "cooler" than the "coolest" phones today.... ya know...?

read your contract.
It should be in there and there are several things to consider
1. If they gave you your used to be cool phone for free. If they did you might get additional penalites for that 'free' phone in addition to the penalites for the contract.
If this is the case you might find it easier to do without the cool phone for another year or just get two phones as it might be cheaper to have both phones then to pay the early termination fee(s).
Call your customer service department (on a day when you dont have ANYTHING else to do)
and have them send you out another copy of your contract after you ask them this question!

Any cell phone company Ive ever dealt with the penalties have been $20.00 a month up to $200.00. But it will be stated in you contract.

You could buy out of your contract or find someone to take over the account and put it in their name ...then switch
