Bush's speech was quite good. He always does well with a prepared speech that he can practice 100 times. However, unfortunately for America rarely is anything done after a president makes his state of the union address. It is 98% talk.
Did you see McCain asleep? Several of the Democrats never applauded or rose from their chairs to which they were glued. This is the American way of life. Politicians are all enormous bulls**t artists who talk big but do very little, if anything, for the people. Hey! They haven't voted themselves an increase in pay in almost a year. What goes? Watch what happens in a month or two. No social security reform. No education bill. No fuel conservation plan but a whopping pay increase and with super benefits.

Bush destroyed that chance over the course of the last 5-6 years. The State of the Union address was not going to make or break his legacy or the GOP's chances.

I remember when after the '04 elections, Bush stood at the podium and said, "Not only did I win this election, but now I have voter credit and I plan to use that to its fullest extent."

That should have told Americans right them that he had no intentions of doing what the American people asked, but rather testing them and taking advantage of them.

As for the GOP, the best thing they can do is listen to the people and try to earn their trust back. It will take more than two years (it took the Democrats 12) but they might be able to. If they had done this throughout, then your question would not even have to be asked.

Bush destroyed the GOP chances with the war, the economy that benefits the rich at the expense of the poor, and the lack of any tact with other countries (or even his constituency).

Fortunately for the GOP the Democrats were able to shock their chances back to life. CLEAR! bzzzt. We've got a pulse, back to Armageddon '08.

i think of George Bush will play a great section interior the death of the Republican social gathering. Lyndon Johnson performed a great section interior the death of the Democratic social gathering. Johnson even mentioned so himself and mentioned that it may invariably value his social gathering the southern vote. The south frequently used to vote democratic, now it frequently votes Republican. i think of the newshounds protecting the election gets somewhat of a marvel this 12 months whilst states that regularly go crimson go blue. the huge shocker could be Indiana probably going blue for the 1st time on account that 1964. Indiana has purely voted democrat one time on account that 1940. The economic device interior the midwest is extremely undesirable remarkable now because of the fact it exceptionally relies upon on production jobs that have been lost during the Bush administration. McCain has supported lots of Bush's rules to win the Republican cost ticket, yet that is his downfall come the national election. If I have been Obama, i could tie McCain as heavily to Bush as obtainable and deem him as yet another 4 years of Bush. i think of the election determination will come all the way down to the Midwest, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida. yet another element that would not help to win those states, McCain already admitted he's conscious no longer something approximately economics. He even jested that he bought Greenspan's e book because of the fact he's conscious little or no approximately how the economic device works. The midwest desperately desires a greater powerful economic device. and then with McCain choosing a working mate with little or no experience from a state based upon oil earnings i do no longer think of the midwest will look on that too properly.

Well if the 06 elections were any indication, he has already ruined 08 by being a republican.
I have met as many people that abandoned their political parties as the amount that left the GOP party because of Bush.

I am not so concerned about the GOP. Perhaps you are right. Time will tell. What I am concerned about is that George's administration is destroying this country.

not only do they have chance, they will probably win. The Democrats aren't serious enough to run the country. Their base is not serious either. Why do you think people are going to flock to the polls to vote for Democrats. The Democrats can't turn out the vote like the Republicans can especially in a presidential election. If Hillary Clinton and barrack obama are the best candidates that they can put up, I'm not worried one bit. It's a known fact that democratic voters are lazy and apathetic. Election after election they always pander to the MTV crowd and they never go out and vote.

He's "staying the course" still. Most responsible adults would at least ask what they are doing wrong, but Bush is hell bent on getting his way no matter what the people he works for think.
