Sure, there are great evils and wrongs in this world, and yeah, it would be great if we actually managed to find a way to make all these problems go away, but we simply can't, not even if we all work together as unified as we'll never be.
Best thing you can do is to live your life as well as you can and do what little you can to improve things within your sphere of control.
I like to toke up, I donate to the World Wildlife fund and SOS Children's villages. I don't do so because I feel I have to, I just do so because I can and these things are a part of what I do and am.
One of my favourite quotes is from MASH:

Hell no its not my duty... My dutie is to ease my mind from all the real effin drama in this world besides me trying to get high.... Why dont we worry about the war on violent crimes... not a person smokin a joint... i think that this law against pot can rot in hell!!
