Life seems teribly unfair when people are alone on holidays, like Vday.

Should I date myself? I can't really think of any good ideas....

Remind yourself that it is a "Hallmark" holiday (as in the greeting card company). The sole purpose is to sell flowers, candy, and cards...oh, and diamonds. I know too many people who settle for anything just to avoid being alone on February 14th!

If being alone seems "terribly unfair", then perhaps it would be helpful to you to go to your local nursing home (senior center) and visit other lonely folks...maybe distribute flowers to some of the residents or staff. Sometimes the best way to get over a funk is to do something nice for others.

Alot of what you are able to do depends on where you are located and also if you are over 21 or not..In your local news paper they should have events that are designated for Singles, and although you may start out alone on Valentines Day,there is a chance you will not remain alone by the end of the evening if you decide to attent such an event...Nightclubs also offer a special night for single people and upon entering a singles party you are not obligated to take anyone home with you afterwards but if something goes your way,you may want to take someone after all..Another way to go about finding events for singles would be to call your local radio stations that aim for the more mature audiances and ask them if they know of things around town for singles on that special day..The best part is that you don't have to worry about buying flowers, candy or jewelry for a lady friend but instead you are able to focus on what you can do to enjoy your evening and hopefully get others to enjoy it along with you.

Avoid tv and radio-all the sappy commercials and specials and movies can be a real downer and make you feel like you're the only person who isn't in on the fun.

Find some single friends and watch movies or play a game.

See if there are any events being planned in your area for people who would rather forget about the holiday.

Or, you could just treat it like any other day and go about your normal routine-don't get worked up about it and don't let yourself be bummed out by a date on the calendar. This is easier said than done, though.

Valentines Day is a stupid, commercial holiday where corporation make us all feel inadequate and guilty if we are not the giver and/or recipient of a stupid chocolate heart or teddy bear. Don't EVEN feel bad...see this holiday for what it really is- a commercially created holiday designed to separate you from your money. Why the hell should corporate America tell me what day to show my affections, and why should showing affection necessarilly mean being obligated into buying someone useless stuff? And why should single people feel bad because they can't join the herd mentality because they don't have a mate? Absolutely rediculous. Ignore Valentines Day completely. Hell, I've got a fiance and I told him that I want to ignore Valentines Day this year because it is too commercially focused.

Haha thats Cute ..

Me and my friends last year celebrated Singles Day, and walked around with Valentines hotties badges.

Celebrate being single, and maybe you'll find a certain someone.

Good Luck .. xx

Throw an UN-Valentine's party!!!! ♥
That's what me and my friends did before. lol.

You can always search on Google for funny websites for Anti-Valentine's stuff. I used to do that just for sh*ts and giggles.

But now, Valentine's is me and my boyfriend's anniversary.
