no limitations, americans have a much free'r ability to travel than most. 20-30 yrs ago you couldn't go to china becasue of Mao's revolution, it's been open since 1978. We've had a big hand in Japan since 1945. vietnam is open but the viet cong are the govt. and celebrate thier victory. But you can come as a tourist and spend money, safe place for americans. South Korea's very nice. Japans really nice. You can live there, certainly on extended work permits if not actual citizenship, You don't want to give up US citizenship because it's the hardest place to get into.

Of cos you can- anyone including Americans are allowed to live in Japan or any Asian country but there's a time limit. The minimum stay as a tourist is usually 2 months - but of cos as a tourist, you are not allowed to work or involve in vice (that will surely get you deported). But as long you are not causing any trouble, there's no reason why the country will not allow you to stay. But there are some country that doesn't allow people with criminal record to enter. And if you wish to stay longer and to work there, then you will have to apply for Work visa or maybe a Permanent Residence.

Hi there,
Sorry, but your friend is absolutely wrong. You are allowed to live in Japan or any other Asian country if you are American (or other nationality). My boyfriend has lived in Japan for 9 years and that's fine. Many people go to Asia to teach English. The only country you might not be allowed in is North Korea, but then, nobody is allowed in :-).
Take care

Americans and others are allowed to live in most foreign countries, if not all of them. It is a matter of meeting the requirements to be allowed to lvie there, usually financial. I person has to either have a job, or a sufficient amount of money to support themselves in order to immigrate to any country (the amount of money varies from country to country. There are lots of froms and papers to fill out, questions to answer and things like that but if someone want to move to Japan, Asutraila or Atlanits (heh) all they have to do is meet the reuqirements and they are in.

Yes, they are. Your friend is an idiot. I'm half Japanese and my relatives have even PAID to have me visit them before (the plane ticket and such). MANY foreigners live there, especially non-Japanese Asians.
