If you want to call yourself mulatto, go ahead.
Everyone's got the right to determine their own identity.
I'm Creole too, and I don't care for the word mulatto as it sounds too much like mule, a sterile hybrid. Anyhow it wouldn't apply to me, as I'm mostly of White and Native American descent.
(some people say you have to be part Black to be Creole, that's also a matter of debate, and another question altogther)
I use the term multi racial because it's well known and recognised, even tho I know that the different races are just different cultures and phenotypes, and there's really only one race, the human race. Otherwise people of mixed heritage really would be sterile, like mules.

of course words can change meaning by society, but
if you look up what the derived word mulatto means
you may not be so quick to accept the term. The term
was actually used to downgrade the African heritage
that you possess. If the slave master impregnated an
black slave the offspring was said to be mulatto in an
effort to raise the child above ostracism of slavery.
So to speak, mulatto children often received favoritism
only from the fact that they were descendents of the
slave master. Some were later freed due to this
situation. Other racial similarities existed with native
americans as well. The term half breed. In either case
the label was to identify the individual as not a member
of society so that the denial of upward progression could
be enforced by society. This term glorified the white
desent and ignored black. Incidentally if you want to
be correct 2 mulattos make a quadroon and l/8 white
was considered and octoroon. How long will we keep
this evil perpetuating?

a lot of people dont like the term mulatto because it means mule, which is a mixture of a donkey and...haha i just forgot. i know it has a real description and meaning, but the term doesnt fit well with a lot of people. multi racial, i believe, helps a person to incorporate the feeling that they are many races at one time, not just a separate category of a mixed person...if you get what im saying...

Good for you, but I bet you choose to live more white than Black. I bet King's dream is never going to be realized because America the beautiful and it is beautiful is still hung up on outside appearance. Keep it real and just know that color is not what makes you.
