First you need to understand the term, "Propaganda." The term comes from the Roman Catholic Church, circa 1620 and means "to spread the word." Today, people often assume the term means to spread FALSE information, but clearly, the original term meant to spread the TRUTH, at least as it was seen by the Catholics. So before you make your poster, you must decide, do you want to spread the truth or a falsehood to further your views.

The truth is hard to dispute, so I would go with that. The TRUTH is that Saddam used Chemical weapons on IRAN and on his own Kurdish population. WMDS actually did exist... However, since the GULF WAR, Iraq has not produced any new WMDS. The truth is it is easier to prove a positive than a negative.. Had new WMDS been found, the positive would have been easily proven...but since no new WM'S have been found, that does not necessarily prove the negative, that none had been produced.

So my idea for your poster...I would focus on what we KNEW for sure. Instead of basing the poster on info that we could not support as true or not, base your poster on what we definitely knew. Clinton cut the Active duty forces by 40%.... and we had insufficient forces to take on both Afghanistan and Iraq. The failure was not realizing we had gutted out forces too much and should not have invaded Iraq..

I am for the war in some ways, and against in some ways also. My brother is a Marine, and just got back from Iraq, and I think that the people there really appreciate what we are doing. At the same, we are loosing a great deal of money. But, I think that Bush shouldn't be bashed on. We were going to have to go to war sometime because they would have attacked us again.

9/11 seems to be used quite a bit. A big picture of the Burning WTC and a caption "Do you want more of this? Fight Terror in Iraq"

it links the two for the viewer. Because of that, they associate 9/11 with Iraq, even though they were completely different things and unrelated. The WTC is emotionally charged, and will have an effect. Adding suggestive captions channels those emotions how you want them to be channeled. you could just as easily put a caption there saying "Reagan trained the man responsible for this" and people would hate the Reagan administration. The sad thing is, the first caption is false, but that second one is true. The US under Reagan trained Bin Laden and supplied him fighting against the Russians.

Edit: Geroge B, I'm answering the question. If you know how they do it, as everyone who just read this now does, they're less likely to fall for it. Education is the key...

Two ideas here, One is a picture of the Iraqi's trying to shoot each other and a picture of our soldiers reading a Sports Illustrated with the cover showing a glamorous babe with a swim suit on and they drop their guns and come over drooling and then they are all sitting and looking at the picture.
Or give a picture of a guy giving them Viagra and then the Iraqi smiles and says Yeah baby its shagidelic baby ( like austin powers). With a woman walking by and our soldier says make love not war with a big peace symbol in the background. Well I tried?

I WOULDNT CALL IT PROPAGANDA. WE ARE ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN CREATION AND NATURE.I BELIEVE IN MY HEART THAT WITH GENUINE EFFORT ON THE PART OF NATIONS TO WAGE PEACE AND UNDERSTANDING AND FAIRNESS IN TREATMENT INSTEAD OF WAR AND DESTRUCTION WORLD PEACE IS POSSIBLE. RELIGION AND FOREIGN POLICY HAS ONE HECK OF A LOUSY TRACK RECORD. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A TIME WHEN THERE IS MORE RELIGION AND THE LACK OF UNDERSTANDING AND LOP- SIDED FAVORITISM. PUT A PHOTO OF THOUSANDS OF PEACEFUL PEOPLE OF ALL NATIONALITIES ON THE POSTER THEN PUT A MUSHROOM CLOUD OVER THEIR HEAD - - - - OR SHOW THEM BLOWN TO PIECES UNDER THE SAME CLOUD.SHOW A NICE FLUFFY WHITE CLOUD ON HALF OF THE POSTER THEN SHOW THE PEOPLE UNDER THE MUSHROOM CLOUD BLOWN TO PIECES.- KEEP THE PEACE ! ! !

Picture a child reading a Bible, with the caption, "Can a Foreign Occupation put a stop to his faith in God?"

How about: "Let the Taliban have a homeland!" or "More power to al Qaeda!" Or, perhaps "Let al Qaeda build nuclear weapons!" would be more your style. You pick.
