Because in a socialist (liberal) government, you pay for the government to do everything for you. The lower the taxes, the less opportunity for a socialist government.

if you have a family of 4 and your entertainment budget is $100 per week. You like going to movies as a family, but a movie for 4 costs your family $125 per week, how many weeks in a row can you go to the movies?
In the Republican world, borrow the money and go to the movies EVERY WEEK! President Bush took a budget surplus and not only made that disappear, he added 3 trillion dollars more in debt to the US taxpayer. That's money and interest you and I have to pay back. What Bush didnt relate in his Speech this evening was what programs he plans on getting rid of the HUGE deficit he has saddled the US taxpayer with. If he isnt going to raise taxes, something (Social Security, Medicare, VA and Military cuts, Pensions) will have to go. No way around it. ok I understand things will have to be tight til we get things back in the black, but WHERE? What programs? One thing you could say about Clinton: At least his SOTUS' had an actual agenda to get things accomplished. Bush's strategy seemed to be dont tell em anything they can criticize.

Because they get a lot of their votes from the impoverished and downtrodden... Lib's keep funding welfare, now national healthcare.. and suddenly, they've got lots more fans to turn out the vote on election day. Unfortunately, the only way to pay for those programs, is to raise taxes on middle and upper class folks who actually EARN their pay and purchase their own healthcare benefits.
Enough rant...

Ah, I believe you're the one not paying attention. The Democrats plan to roll back tax breaks that were passed by Republicans for big business and the wealthy at a time when our national debt is spiraling hopelessly out of control. Do you like the idea of being in debt to the Chinese communists to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars?

Was listening to a political commentator talk about how many members of congress want on the House Transportation Committee so they can get their hands on some pork barrel money for back home projects.
He referred to the road to nowhere up in Alaska as something that started that chain of popularity.
How are dems gonna give ya socialized healthcare and all the things they wanna spend money on without taking more of your money to do it.

A world without taxes would be great, but it wouldn't change the fact that we are spending a TON of money, most of it for the War Department. We spend more money on war than all of the other countries combined. Can't spend money you don't have.

They say it is important to raise taxes, but this is without merit. It is possible to reduce taxes while cutting spending. The way you do this is to reduce the services our government provides and cut back on waste.

Democrats want to raise taxes to pay for all their pet projects. They already have a spending agenda in their tiny little minds.

Tell me how we can balance the budget without raising taxes on billionaires...not average workers...not YOU or me, but BILLIONAIRES. It's exactly what Warren Buffet exhorted.
What makes you think Democrats will raise taxes for ALL americans? You can't answer it because it's not true. Please show me evidence to prove me otherwise and I will apologize to you.
