Party means people coming together to enjoy each other's company. It can be dancing, it can be drinking but it doesn't have to be either. A party can be all-men or it can be all-women. A baby shower is a party. A child's birthday celebration is a party. An anniversary celebration is a party. The Fourth of July is a party celebrated all across the nation, with separate events in every little town and hamlet. Party just means people marking some special event, in a way that is meaningful and pleasing to them.
