It seems like some people always torture themselves by worrying about whether or not their significant other is cheating, or will or could cheat. Or, like some of my old b.f.'s they freak out if their s.o even looks at a person of the opposite sex. I've just never been like that in any relationship. I never even thought about the possibility the guy was cheating, even if maybe he was, and if I ever found out he was cheating, I would have broke up with him on principle, but it wouldn't have been the worst thing. I guess it would be a much bigger deal if I was married, because I would have to trust someone so much to marry him in the first place. I just wonder why some people are so consumed with jealousy when others don't have much of that emotion in comparison.

Clue:

Cheaters are the jealous types. Since they recognize that they're OK to cheat, well, they expect to be cheated on and this fuels the jealousy.

Monogamous ppl typically start off happy-go lucky and then after being accused of cheating repeatedly by their partner ... well, they get manipulated into feeling guilty that their partner cheated.

Confidence and self reliance. An unfortunate number of people rely on a SO to complete themselves. The thought of their partner leaving actually causes them to feel like they are losing something of themselves.

Not that I wouldn't be devastated if my bf left me. But I trust that he wouldn't cheat on me (partially because he knows what will happen if he does ;) ) And I am a complete person with or without him. He's rooming with a female co-worker of his and I don't have a single concern about it.

I think it has a lot to do with their self esteem, self image and self worth. Some people are just more comfortable with who they are. They are trusting and loving in their relationship. Personalities are so greatly different from person to person. I guess it's a combo of biology, environment and past experiences. Anyway, i think that makes the difference
