In all the times you asked this question you still don't have an answer?

First off, I find it shocking that if only two brands are available in your area, these are the only 2.

Secondly, Summit is not a Goodyear. It is a private label brand. Some of thier designs may be manufactured in Goodyear plants, but it is not a Goodyear branded tire. If the store is telling you it is, they are mis-representing the tire.

Thirdly, you only have one choice. The Summit tire comes in a size 225/50R16 92H. Your Grand Am requires a P225/50R16 91V. The Summit tire's speed-rating is under-rated for what your car was designed for. If your tire shop knew what they were doing they would not even offer you that tire. At my shop we will not under-spec a tire. We only use a tire that meets the manufacturers spec for size, speed rating and load capacity.

That leaves you with one choice - the Yokohama AVID V4s.

I usually recomend to my customers BFGoodrich Momentum II, Toyo 4000, Uniroyal Tiger Paw, and then I don't usually recomend this one to customers because of the pain to get it into the shop (none of our normal suppliers have this brand, its moreso a special order) Hankook Milage Plus II. I have the Hankooks on my truck and they are a nice tire. My van has the Toyos and my Other truck has Uniroyal Tiger Paws. All very nice riding tires and all moderatly priced, I believe for that car the Hankooks would cost the least and the Uniroyals would cost the most. Not sure on that, but call around for local pricing.

The tire stamp is maximum air pressure, not recommended. The vehicle manufacture sets it for each different car. In your case, Pontiac recommends 35psi in both front and rear tires, and that cover the 14 inch and both 15 inch options that the car came with.

Best to stick with mfg. recommendation found in owners manual. If you've done any mods that would increase speed then check with tire store for their recommendation.
