I think the Firefighter's should receive it this year as a collective award.

They (and the volunteers) always do a fantastic job, and this last 12 months has been particularly trying.

If Warney gets it I will be disgusted.

Someone who isnt famous but really deserving like our struggling nurses, Our over worked aged care workers, A single mum balancing her career and making a life for her children. Shane Warne is a loser and doesnt deserve to win. Bindi/Terry Irwin shouldnt win either...Cos to be blunt if steve Irwin didnt (sadly) pass away they wouldnt even be on our minds or on our TV.

cantik, I disagree. She was the first person to pop into my mind! I am Australian and admire that whole family for their strength. I think people are forgetting that Bindi was already doing what she is doing now before the untimely passing of her beloved father. I have seen footage (Australian Story I think) with Steve saying he hoped shed be a bigger star than him. She is never pressured into doing anything she doesn't want to do. The criticism Terry is under for letting her pursue her dreams is disgusting.....Okay lets say a child had a favourite game of firetruck they played with a parent or loved one, they lost a parent, do you take away the truck game or encourage them to keep playing it? See my point. I vote Bindi for Australian of the year this year and next!!!! AND Terry for Mother of the year!

Someone who is NOT a Celebrity, a Sports-person, a Media Personality or a Politician. This time try giving it to some one who is one of 'us' an average person who just does good things for the sake of doing good, rather than for the publicity. Find a NURSE and say "This is for all of You from all of Us'.

Pauline Hanson

- I dont always agree with her views but she deserves credit for standing up for what she believes in. She's got guts coz she doesn't seem to care to much what anyone else thinks of her and lets face it, there isn't many people out there like that. Sometimes if you look past the "racist" image she has been labelled with and actually listen to what she is saying, she does at times "have a point."

-She really loves Australia.

it would be Hugh Jackman, cause he's a fantastic actor !! and he deserves it for doing such a great job in any role he takes on !!!!

actually it would be nice if the Irwin family received it in Steve's name .. he had done so much for conservation and keeping the animals protected and taken care of at his zoo

Please, not to Bindi Irwin. That poor child is just over-doing it (or rather her "people" are).

That woman who has invented a lycra swimsuit for devout Muslim women is a good choice, as she is doing her bit to fuse Australian and Islamic cultures in a country that is increasingly separating them.
