Because with things concerning my body, i have a weird obsessive need for even-ness. If one of my hands is cold or wet the other one has to be also. i can't wear a set of head phones unless both ears are getting equal sound. If i break a nail, i have to clip them all off... but it doesn't interfere with my life on a major scale, just some mild annoyances.

Is this Asymmetriphobia?

A phobia creates profound anxiety, shivering, intense perspiration etc., at the sight of the phobic object. I believe that your behavior is *mildly* obsessive-compulsive, rather than phobic. But still, within normality limits.

Everyone has their obsessions, for example to count the trees when they are in a car, I for one can't stand when my cigarette pack is touched by others... Sometimes when you wake and look in the mirror, you might think that you look totally different, but that doesn't mean you suffer from depersonalization. You might yell at others sometimes, it doesn't mean you're hysterical. Sometimes you might isolate yourself - you're not schizophrenic.

I have a friend who always washes his belly button first, when taking a bath. When I get out of bed, I need to touch the floor with both feet. And I'm still normal! (I think :P). As long as these behaviors don't interfere with our normal functioning, and more importantly, with other people's normal functioning, you shouldn't get too worried.
