My friend who is obsessed with this long deceased actress has recently informed me that she has purchased her own burial plot at the same cemetary where this star is buried out in California. I think she is taking her obsession too far and needs help. What do you think?

More details; my friend is 27 and has been obsessed with this person since she was about 21. She is very attractive and intellegent, yet she seems to live in her own little fantasy world. She never goes out with friends really and does not date. I know it's a 'to each his own' world, but I think she is missing out on alot of wonderful things in life.

I think your right, she is going overboard with it and needs to get a real life with live friends. If you don't think she'll get mad at you, then I would really suggest you tell her to seek help...wait a minute...that was a bit hasty...I'm guessing you mean she talks about this deceased actress all the time and not just that she likes her so much that she bought a plot in the same cemetary...that would be a bit strange but not so much that she needs professional help. I'm saying she needs professional help if all she ever talks about is the deceased actress.

Kinda hard to comment not knowing all the details... how old is your friend? If she is 75 and found a role model in someone like Jessica Tandy, well, I wouldn't see that I could make any judgements. If, however, your friend is 18 or 23 and thinks that Lucille Ball or Barbara Stanwick or that ilk can save her soul, or whatever her fantasy is, I would suggest that she might want to talk to someone. Buying a burial plot is a rather morbid thing to do if she is young, all by itself. Please say more....
