The 1st thing I do when I wake up in the morning is ask for help from my higher power. Then right before I go to bed I look in the mirror and say 5 things that I did good. I'm feeling better, and soon I'm going to start reading a couple of inspirational books in the morning too -you know like daily reflections. I also go to a support group meeting almost every day, and counseling every week. I have to do this kind of stuff my whole life if I want to stay alive with any hope of happiness.

But,To Be In Someone's Heart Is Most Difficult....
So "Respect" The Heart Which Cares For You....

CHOOSE to be happy. Spend more time with friends. Go out for a walk, a bike ride, anything you enjoy. Don't sweat the small stuff. Play a game. Watch your favorite movie........the list goes on my friend, you just have to choose happiness.

the easy way would be pills or alcohol or drugs.
bad idea. and only temporary.
the healthy way would be to get counseling or therapy. or try a new hobby, meet new people, surround yourself with a new circle, new job, new significant other (if the current one is not good), new things. the key is new things.
the other non-healthy way would be to fill the empty void of unhappiness with money, promiscuous sex, or by stepping on others to reach the top. i don't recommend this.

believe in yourself and do positive things for the people around you as well as yourself, if your going to abuse alcohol or any other kind of substance its not gunna make you feel better, you'll just have to deal with it all over again. Try staying postive and hang out with friends and doing fun things, and if you dont have friends, going out to a comedy club or a club can always cheer someone up.

simply decide that is what you want to be, anytime an negative thought comes up tell it sorry no room for you, I will have to get back to you later, and file it under to do in 2050, you might have the time but until then just keep on being positive and outgoing and cheerful, you are the one who is in control of the emotions no one else

Stop worrying about it.
Happiness is not what you get from life, but its what you give to life. So stop expecting. Your dad buying you your favorite dress won't make you as happy as you buying your dad a suit....
Waiting for what? Go and act...
