Yes; ever since spanking went out of vogue and has all but become illegal, that has been when the juvenile crime stats have gone through the stratosphere.kids understand consequences only if they are immediate, and unpleasant. Time outs don't cut it. I was sent to my room a lot as a pre-teen and it made squat difference to me; I had my stereo and other fun things in there.

Between consenting adults! Okay, I see I am not alone in this answer, so I'll add to it.
Spanking has a place in life, but so does soothing caressing. If one must be spanked, it is imperative to soothe the skin afterward.

If it only involves consenting adults in private, then YES.
Otherwise, NO, although a sharp slap at a young age may well have led to a lesser level of juvenile crime.
