Get involved in your church choir if you have one. Remember to glorify the name of Jesus with your gift and don't let anyone tell you that you can't make it. Study music and begin to talk to other singers. There is a lot of stardom out there but I know it can make your head big and forget where you got your gift. So from a artist make sure that you don't let the devil have any of your gifts. Just remember WHAT YOU DO FOR CHRIST WILL LAST!! Don't get side tracked by the worldly things. It will make you loose track of your purspose and destiny God has prepared for you if you follow his will.

Take some voice lessons. Join a choir or two. Get a part in a local musical, that is fun.

The best thing you can do is buy a few vocal instruction books,
And get a recording device, so you can hear yourself.
It sounds different on a tape than you think you sound.

join a church choir, volunteer at local plays to be in the chorus of musicals, definitely a vocal coach, then if all else fails try out fot American Idol next year.
