It depends on if you want one or not. I can go to the UK tomorrow and speak in an English accent if I wanted to. Kevin Spacey is probably more comfortable with who he is and has no trouble staying the same.
Gwyneth and Madonna both strike me as posers.

In their defense....I think maybe some people just pick it up accidently....it used to be if I watched too much Golden Girls or Designing women my southern drawl would start coming out and I've lived in the North all my life! I don't know how I got that little bit of an accent?

Because they are putting it on deliberately because they think it makes them sound sophisticated. To me, it just makes them sound phony.
