my rabbit just had babies, and i was expecting 2 females, but there was 1 female and one male. I don't want the male to cause more bunnies, so i'm planning to give it away. are there any good places (somewhere in Daly City or San Francisco, CA) or websites that take them in?

First off, the babies should stay with the mom for at least 8 weeks and the babies are too young to make babies. Maybe you should separate the dad from the female so you don't have any more unwanted litters. Once the babies are old enough to be separated, please get in touch with a rescue. There is one in the East Bay area:

Sadly, many rescues can't take in your bunny and some animal shelters will have to put the bunny to sleep if it isn't adopted.

Here is an article with some pointers about rehoming the baby:

As an aside, why not get your male neutered and then spay the female? That will definitely preclude any more babies and it will improve the bunnies' behavior and is very important for the females health.

Hi there... because everyone here is located from all over the world consider posting an ad through a free online service such as Petfinder http://www.petfinder.com or your SF Craigslist http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pet/ . Be sure to ask for a small adoption fee (e.g. $15) to disuade people who are looking for a free pet to sell to research labs, use for dog bait training, snake food or worse mistreatment. Ask prospective adopters that you would like to conduct a home inspection monthly for 3 months to ensure the well-being of the bunnies as well. You can negotiate the adoption fee if you feel you have found a good home and refund the money after a few months. People scour Craigslist every minute daily so you may find someone pretty quickly.

The best rabbit website is www.rabbit.org. I think they will help you out as they have members all over the country. They will probably ask you to spay/neuter your rabbits in the future. I had my rabbits neutered even though I have no females. It makes for healthier bunnies. Please don't set him loose in the wild. I know someone who worked at an animal shelter and she said that as soon as they would get rabbits in they would die of fright with all of the noise, so please use that as a last resort. I would take him, but I live in Pennsylvania. I hope you find a good home for the baby.

Place an ad in the local paper looking for a family to adopt your bunny. Bunnies make good pets and I am sure someone will adopt him.

Instead of giving away your rabbit maybe you should just fix both of them. It's not terribly expensive. Btw cahnces are your female is pregnant again. They can get pregnant the same day they give birth. Go to this website for shelter info http://www.rabbit.org

When we wanted to give our kittens away, we went to Walmart and posted a notice on the board in pets that had a description and our number on it. Within a matter of a day or two we got rid of all of them. If you don't have a local Walmart, a pet store may also have similar post boards.

Try an animal rescue place. If you wanted two female rabbits, yo should have double checked the rabbits before you bought them.

You could try and sell them to a pet shop or alternatively see if your local vet has a rehoming programme for unwanted animals.

Otherwise take them to an animal shelter.

Some humane societies will take rabbits; have you ever thought of taking him to the vet? You can get your rabbit neutered, then no more baby rabbits and then you don't have to get rid of him.
