Bush’s address this week again highlighted his plan to escalate the war on Iraq with a “surge” of more than 20,000 U.S. soldiers. He is sending a message to anyone who opposes him, saying in effect: What are you going to do to stop me?

ALunaticF... - um wrong, it is The Constitution which allws for that and freedom of speech which was actualized by people like Abbey Hoffman (hippy) who sent cases to the Supreme Court to see the interpretation of the Constitution applied to law. So your boggled notion that somehow war is what makes it possible for me to write here is flat wrong.

No. We must stay and finish the job. I'll tell you why. If we stop and pull our men back home, Guess what will happen? THEY WILL FOLLOW US HOME AND KILL US! Neither the police nor the govt., National Guard nor highway Patrol, or the Sheriff or Marshal can stop them OR protect you. Only you can help you! But you can't do that if you don't have a gun!
But there is something they do over there that they can't do well over here. That's to look like the average American. They might dress like us. They might talk without much of an accent. You might not think anything until the bomb goes off or the shooting starts. But if just one man has a gun, they can be stopped before they do all of the damage they want to do. If everybody had guns, they might not even try anything because they would know they could be easily stopped.
If we stay over there and fight them, they will stay there to fight our troops and eventually be captured or killed.
FYI; The "warlords' you mentioned don't exist. The British were our masters but by the time they surrendered, they begrudgingly admitted that the American Militia was a force best left unchallenged because they were marksmen and didn't fight like soldiers, they fought like their lives depended on it.
You and I are now part of that unorganized Militia. Would you run and hide, or would you stand and fight?

You are apparently not prepared for an answer since you have already made your conclusions clear in your question.

Reply: There are numerous answers to this question - I only indicated that you were not prepared for one - history has shown that the only response that terrorists respond to is violence.
Fact: They view anything thing else as weakness. (alQaeda has stated this numerous times)
Fact: All efforts in the past at negotiation, appeasement, apathy and diplomacy have only resulted in more terror, finally culminating in the events of 9/11.
Fact: Our "war machine" will be stopped when the world stops producing fanatical, demented, power hungry dictators and their brain washed followers with delusions of world domination. Only then will we live in peace AND security.
I don't think you are ready to accept this reality.

It will be stopped when we win this war. It takes time
to win over terrorists who will even bomb elementary
schools which they did yesterday. SHould we leave
and let this happen in Iraq. THis dirty enemy needs to
be taken down, not give it to them to take over. There
won't be any children left then in Iraq. They'll be in
big holes in the ground like Saddam Hussein treated
his citizens. Horrible people. Let's whip 'em. Why are

It shouldn't be stopped. That War Machine as you call it lets you write and read yahoo answers. because in some parts of the world this would be banned. so would your freedom of speech. Our military strength insures our political and social freedoms.
