Under Federal Law a convicted felon cannot own any type of fire arm. Possession of a fire arm by a convicted felon is punishable by a mandatory minimum sentence of two years, and as much as ten years, confinement in a federal correctional facility.

Unfortunatly you now have no right to defend yourself or your family. You may possess a strung weapon such as a crossbow or a compound bow. I know that in all the states I hunt in you can't hunt with a crossbow unless you have a physical handicap or heart condition or something like that. I use a compound bow and I can go right through a bullet proof vest with a hunting tip.

Good luck if you try to get your record expunged. It will cost about $8000 per charge.

A convicted felon isn't allowed to very own a firearm in any state. even although your uncle has served his debt to society, he became convicted. whether he became convicted 25 years in the past or 25 minutes in the past, with that conviction he lost a number of rights firearms for one and balloting is yet another. there is one long and costly shot he can attempt and pursue. touch a legal expert and function his conviction expunged. there is no assure it will be allowed yet it particularly is the only way for him to be waiting to do it. and it will ought to come from the Governor or the President. purely an entire pardon gets him all of his rights back.

I don't think that just because you are convicted of a felony that should take away your right to defend your family. I don't think you should be able to ride around with it. But in your own home? its too much going on.

no they cannot ,,, they will do an totall background check..
with the bows it depends on the state...

i would suggest that if you have a felony conviction on your record ,, and this depends, on what type of a felony,,,,, and the amount of time that has lasped,,, you can have your record espunged.. it is the same as if it never happen ,,, and all this depends on your state... ga does have a lot of different laws than some other states...

good luck
