If you look at the world today, notice that half the teenage population does drugs or has tried them at least once.
So the arguement here is, why can't they just say no? They know of all the health risks and dangers they put themselves in when doing the drugs, so why dont they avoid them? Is it because they think its cool? Well its not, in fact its stupid and if teenagers were smarter, they'd realize all these drugs are doing is shortening their life expectancy. And I'm speaking about all drugs, even weed is harmful, it slows down the organs and can cause future health problems.
Saying no to drugs isnt that hard, I've done it, I dont want to be on a oxygen machine when i get older, is that what these kids want?

They don't necessarily know the risks. Teenagers might know that drugs are risky, but not how risky. There are many myths out there. And some parents are afraid of bringing up the subject, meaning that their kids are getting their information on the street.
Second, they want to look cool. They are afraid of losing friends if they say no. Some kids even experience pushers that are real bullies and threaten them if they don't try them.
Third, they want to try them. Life is hard as a teenager, and some may see drugs as a way to escape from their problems or have fun.
Fourth, they may think that drug abuse is okay. Unfortunately, they may have learned this by watching their parents abuse drugs or alcohol.
I completely agree with you that saying no really isn't that hard. But you might not know that unless you do it. I personally grew up in an environment where I was never directly offered drugs, and I am so glad that I never had to make that choice. I hope I wouldn't have made the wrong one, but I'm glad I didn't have to find out.

it's probably a combination of several different scenarios. first if is is a taboo subject at home, and not talked about, kids may not realize how imperative it is to just say no. but also our society glamorizes drugs. not like in some countries, where the punishment is prison, and even death. if you keep a subject shrowed in mystery it seems more daring and adventuresome. it's not just teenagers. i know several adults who for their whole life abstained from using, and when peer pressure or the pressures of adulthood got too tough, they thought a little recreational use would be a way to self medicate. never thinking they could become addicted. after all a junkie is the homeless guy on the street, right? Wrong. believe me it can happen to the best of us. I know. I am one year clean on January 28th.

Peer pressure.
Also like you said, it's because they do think it's cool. Fitting in and being popular is so important they will do almost anything. They likely don't want to get rejected from others and feel lonely. Well, I followed the path of "I won't listen or submit to you" and it led me through the path of rejection. At least I didn't do drugs or have an unplanned baby in the process. Sometimes not fitting in is good and healthy.
I'm not here to judge someone else's life (people do that enough to me already), but good comes out of doing it for the sake of fitting in with people that may not even be worth it?

simply the answer for this can be because teenagers are not rooted to their religion. they have run far away from their religion. just for the sake of show off they consume alcoholic drinks
the Quran prohibits alcohol in surah Maidah, chapter 5, v.no. 90:
"O ye who believe! intoxicants and Gambling,(dedication of ) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an Abomination- of Satan's handiwork; eschew such (abomination), that ye may prosper"
the Bible prohibits alcohol in proverbs, chapter 20, v.no.1
"Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging; and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise."
and also in Ephesians, chapter5, v.no.18:
"And be not drunk with wine."
it has many disadvantages we can just list them in order. but still many people are addicted. first they become social drinkers which slowly chages them to drunkers.cases of adultery, rape incest and AIDS are found more in alcholics. so that's why it is the work of the parents to read and understand their scripture's and provide a good environment to their children and teach them all the do's and don'ts in religion.that is better , because prevention is better than cure.

there is a lot of peer pressure now a days for teens..my daughter is only 13, and i have talked exclusively with her on this subject..she knows what can come from them..i think if the parent helps to guide their children in the right direction, they are less apt to do drugs and say no..as least im hoping that my guidance will help her..
