A public sector or non-profit job can start as low as 27K a year, average starting salaries at large corporate firms are as high as 175K year to start. The sky is the limit on what you CAN make since you live and die by your name/reputation and what the market will bear for that name/reputation.

I think you can have huge pay differences based on the area in which a lawyer could work.

You may as well ask "how long is a piece of string?". The answer is anywhere from nothing to millions, with lots of stops in between.

it TOTALLY depends on what type of law they choose to practice

For exampe, I go to a top 10 law school and the starting salary for people who graduate and who have obtained legal employment ranges from $25,000 - 160,000 per year
